Paper Plates at Working Class Studio

I first learnt about Working Class Studio over at d*s a long while back, but I've never talked about it here yet. For those who are not familiar with Working Class Studio, below is a short introduction, provided by Jessica of Working Class Studio.


Working Class Studio is a product development venture of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) that cultivates and promotes the work of talented SCAD artists. Each academic quarter, students are selected as interns to form an interdisciplinary design team which designs products to be sold in the marketplace. The studio also regularly collaborates with faculty and alumni to produce lifestyle and home interior goods. An innovative concept for an educational institution, Working Class Studio married function with art to deliver a well-curated, ever-expanding mix of original stationery and home décor lines sold in retail stores across the United States and internationally.


Paper plate and napkin collection is the latest addition to Working Class Studio's innovative home décor and stationery lines. One collection is a wildly vibrant explosion of color, while the other offers a chicly minimalistic motif. My choice? of course..., the wild one. ;-) Click here to find out where you can get them. HauteGREEN, New York City, USA

Got a tip from Cj, telling me about her upcoming exhibition at the HauteGREEN show in New York City, May 19-21, 2007. HauteGREEN is a curated exhibition of sustainable furniture, lighting, and housewares. Cj will have her 'feeding desire' plates featured there. Have a look on the HauteGREEN designers showcase here. Cockpit Arts Open Studio, Holborn, UK

Cockpit Arts is the largest creative hub for designer-makers in the UK, and Flavia Del Pra will be at their Open Studio Holborn on May 31 to June 3, 2007. Flavia's gorgeous ceramic lamps will be at the 'Developing Professional Practice' Graduate Showcase. Have a visit, okay? :) Thanks, Flavia!

Home for Christmas

We're back from our trip and we're going to spend the rest of the holiday here in Singapore, with a small gathering with our dear friends on Christmas day, and a New Year celebration with some relatives who are coming to town. So...., what would make a great last post? more plates, perhaps. ;-)

Tralalart, France

Tralalart is the brainchild of Marie Leveque, a graduate in Decorative Arts, who has passion for photography and graphics. Above are my favorites. Check out the rest of her collections here. I guess if you're crazy over plates as much as I am, you'll be seeing more and more of them here. :)

Chris Chun

Chris Chun is an artist and award winning designer based in Sydney, Australia, who has over 12 years experience working as a textile designer & stylist in the UK, Italy and Australia. Chris creates designs, illustrations, concepts and style, ranges from textile, to stationery, to homeware, to product development. He also licenses his designs.

When you see his paintings, it's really hard not to get tempted to purchase one. It is such a delight to see his work, I can imagine myself staring at it everyday. I adore his use of texture, soft and playful colors on objects like food, tableware and cutlery. Well, you all know how much I love plates, and flowers, and chocolates, and cupcakes, and pretty patterns, and his paintings are the only ones that have all of these! Definitely in my wish list! Cj O'Neill

Being featured in the recent edititon of Elle Decoration UK for her Solas lights has led me to search for more of her creations, and look what I've found... more lovely plates!! ;-)


Cj's New Heirlooms pieces was actually vintage ceramic pieces rejuvenated with hand cut and printed transfer patterns, making them one off pieces. They are available at selected stores in the UK, Sweden & France. Read more about her here.

I need Caspari!

Well, I know the party's over, but really, I think I need these pretty paper plates from Caspari, just to feed my addiction for plates! Have you ever heard a girl addicted to plates before? haha, now you have! ;-)

I first found them at Plum Party, but Catering Supplies stocks much bigger range of Caspari Paper Products. With beautiful patterns like these, I'd need more parties to host! :)

Tamara's Birthday soon

I know it's already half way through July and I haven't been blogging at all. So I thought I'd drop a quick note today to let everybody know what I've been up to. I was caught up with some work and health issues after my return from Jakarta, and now, I'm busy preparing Tamara's first birthday party this coming Saturday, July 22.

Here's a picture of French Bull's plates I'm planning to use to serve the cupcakes at the birthday party. I'm thinking of stacking them up with cups in between. For some reason, it's just so hard to find a 3-tiered cake stand here in Singapore, or even the 2-tiered one.

I've been doing some cutting and gluing for the past few days, and... yessss, I knooowwww..... it'd be much faster if I had a sewing machine to make these party streamers, but I have no plan of using sewing machine frequently, so... gluing, it is. And I still have few more to go! Arrrghhh!! ;-)

Tamara is chattier now and she always wants whatever Natassja is eating, even though she only has 3 teeth. :) I'm both anxious and excited about Tamara's party. I just hope it would turn out fine.

Deshoulieres

I've seen too many pretty plates from Deshoulieres, a French company, on the magazines, so I thought I'd check it out. They have dishes in patterns, solid colors, and some even come with unique shapes. Nice... :)

Rachel Kelly

I've been a fan of Rachel Kelly since her interactive wallpaper was featured in Elle Decoration UK last year. Her stickers are on top of my wish list! This season, Habitat has just launched another wonderful creation designed by Rachel Kelly, called Nancy tableware collection. Check out her other works here.

Rachel Kelly is currently having an exhibition at the Creative 8 project, organized by Clerkenwell Green Association, from March 8 - April 1, 2006, Wednesday - Saturday, 12-6pm. She exhibits her new collection of wallpapers created with innovative materials using cutting-edge design processes. Oh, I just can't wait to see it on the magazines.

Gorgeous blooms by Paula Pryke

I'm devoted to flowers. Flowers on prints, fabrics, plates, walls, you name it. I love them all. Too bad, you can hardly get good looking blooms on Valentine's day. There are just too many buyers and limited blooms, which btw, cost heavenly on this day. Even the poor looking ones are unreasonably priced. So today, it's best to enjoy flowers in the most affordable way, browsing the pictures of flowers. :)

Flavia Del Pra

Oh, I love patterns by Flavia Del Pra, a Brazillian ceramist. With bright & colorful colors, she combines both fashion and nature into her works. Lots of pretty pictures on her site, but I can't display them all here. :) She has plates, boots, wall tiles, tabletops, notebooks, and more. French Bull by Jackie Shapiro

Alright folks, Christmas is coming soon. It's time for me to do my bits. French Bull gorgeous melamine tablewares are available in Singapore! Yup, I said Singapore. You can find them at Molecule Living, TheLifeShop, LifeBaby, and Egg3. FYI, these stockists don't display all their products on the net, and none of them does online shopping, so you really need to visit their retail shops to see their whole range of products. To find out their locations, please visit their respective websites. Jackie Shapiro is the brilliant designer behind French Bull. Jackie has consistently produced stunning designs using bold and graphic colors. Her style are mostly influenced by the Italians during her stint in Milan, Italy.
