    GONG XI FA CAI

It's a long weekend here in Singapore as we celebrate the Chinese New Year. The city is rather quiet as many places are closed today until Tuesday for the public holidays. And I will be out of the blogland for the holidays.

Here's the picture of my fourth painting (latest!), Jelly Fish I, created based on one of Natassja's doodles. More about it on a later date. Meanwhile, please visit my ever growing list of links on the right sidebar for more reading pleasures. ----->

To those who celebrate it, may the coming "Golden Pig" year brings you happiness, good health and prosperity for the entire family. Happy Chinese New Year! Gong Xi Fa Cai! :)

    News

Great things are happenings every week in the blogland, and they are the thrills of blogging. Please share my excitement on these:

  • My fellow blogger, a real talented illustrator, FLEE, has just announced her work for Ferm Living (Denmark) is up online! She created the Sparrow wallpaper/wall sticker for Ferm Living. YAY! Way to go, Flee! The whole Ferm Living wall stickers collection has been nominated for the Formland Design Award - Spring 2007. Congrats to Ferm Living for the nomination and for choosing one of the best talents of Singapore! ;-) And of course, congrats to FLEE! I'm SO very happy for this woman.

  • Susan of Art Esprit has just launched her first podcast with Leigh Pennebaker, a sculptor from New York City. Congratulations, Susan! More great podcasts coming up, I bet. :)

  • It's BOOK WEEK at Print & Pattern! Bowie has a list of great books for people with a passion for patterns and motifs, like me! :) But I have to warn you, be ready to empty your wallet, her selection is just SO irresistable! For Singapore residents: if you're thinking of buying the books locally, check the prices first. Few books are priced much higher here than in Amazon USA + vpost shipping.
  • Emma Jay Designs, Australia

Emma Jay Designs is founded by Emma Goody, a performer, who got frustrated with the nature of the entertainment industry and determined to find something else as fulfilling as the stage. I'm glad she did, otherwise I wouldn't be able to see these gorgeous pillows around.

Catch her at her one and only exhibition this year, Furnitex/Decoration and Design on 19-22 July 2007, Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Australia. Enjoy!

    Happy Hearts Day!

Here's Natassja's Valentine's day artwork from school. I know there are extra letters on the card, but Natassja insists the card only says "Happy Valentine's Day" with her name on it. :)

I'm off to a dinner date with my dear husband, and nope, the kids are not coming with us, not tonight! ;-)

Thank you for reading my blog. Have a Loooovely Day!

    Jobs Handtryck, Sweden

Jobs Handtryck is a textile manufacturing company based in Leksand, Sweden. It was founded in 1944 by Peer Jobs, with textile collections mostly designed by his sisters, Gocken and Lisbet Jobs. In 1989, Peer Jobs passed away and Jobs Handtryck was then managed by his wife, Eva Jobs, who's also one of their textile designers. Today, the company is run by Peer’s and Eva’s son Jesper, his wife Åsa and their son Emil.

I had fun browsing through their online shop. With their collection of trays, table linen, bags, pillow cases and fabrics, it's really hard to pick my favorites, why? I'm a greedy lady, I love them all!! ;-)

taschide - tan und schiebe design

Taschide is a small but very fine design office based in Germany. I remembered seeing their products around the blogland last year (designspotter, Pan-Dan & Poppy, I think.)

Johannes of Taschide thought it'd be a good idea to introduce Taschide products and projects to imedaGoze's readers. And I couldn't agree more. I loooove their Sleeping Beauty and Wreath Mirror Mirror. Click here to find out more.

    Thanks, Johannes!

    MAAD, Singapore

I've been wanting to check out MAAD (Market of Artists and Designers) ever since Ms. Spinach introduced it on her blog, but Saturday and Sunday have always been for our family affairs. I guess I'll be stuck in this dilemma for a little longer. For those who have the luxury to visit MAAD, it'll be at the red dot design museum, 28 Maxwell Road. For more details, click on the image for a more readable size. Have a MAAD fun!
